Make sure you explore the local highlands when on your holiday. For instance, there are lovely spots for wildlife, walking and great views all within a short distance. You don’t need to be a super fit hiker to enjoy all of these places – in fact, many are just a short walk from a nearby parking area. For the more active, the opportunities for walking in the glens, hills or coastal paths are truly endless.

These are just a small example of nearby places to check out on your holiday. Cassley Falls, Falls of Shin, Croick Church, Rosehall Trails, Raven’s Rock Gorge, Dornoch Beach, Loch Migdale, Tarbet Ness, Portmahomack and Struie Hill. Walk Highlands is an excellent website for checking out some of these places. Furthermore, it gives difficulty ratings as well as instructions on where to park and the routes.

I was lucky enough to visit the Highlands late November/early December and I was literally blown away with its beauty and the fact that it snowed was an added bonus! The scenery was amazing and there is an abundance of things to do, both indoor and outdoor. If you have not yet visited the Highlands, add it to your bucket list – it is a MUST!

What an absolute beautiful place to stay. The scenery is breath-taking, the tranquil surroundings clear your mind almost immediately. Wildlife is in abundance within the grounds of the property and there are so many fantastic walks and things to do & see within the surrounding area. Highly recommend a visit.

We stayed in the Spring of 2021. This place is a photographer's dream. Nature and scenery is in abundance. The views are fabulous. We had stunning wild life experiences: salmon, seals, dolphins and so many birds and wild flowers. Clean air fabulous views all enhanced by changing sky scapes

What a stunning location this is. It’s situated in the middle of the NC500 so it’s the perfect base to explore. There’s something for everyone - we enjoyed history (the site of the battle of Culloden, Dunrobin Castle, Muir House and Dunnett Head) wildlife, (dolphins, seals, puffins, skewers, a peregrine falcon and jumping salmon to name but a few), amazing countryside and walks (including Handa Island and the Bone Caves), waterfalls (including Fairy Glenn and Smoo) and stunning beaches. Alan and Yvonne were very helpful in suggesting places to visit and helping work out the best times to do this (watching the dolphins play was so amazing).

The absolutely quiet location is perfect for nature lovers and to explore the area. The furnishings were excellent and well thought out, we did not miss anything. excellent wifi. the hosts are helpful and helpful with providing home made delicious cakes.
